On August 31, 2023, the first training session for municipalities on the application of EnerCoach took place in Albania. The individuals responsible for managing municipal buildings in the MEMUs of the 4 pilot cities, Berat, Korca, Shkodra, and Permet, were able to acquire basic knowledge of using the energy accounting software through a one-day training provided by the SEMP team. This tool will enable them to document, monitor, and use the energy consumption data of municipal buildings for reporting purposes and monitoring implementation of the Municipal Energy and Climate Action Plan. Currently, these four municipalities are the first ones using this software.

EnerCoach has been used for years by many European Energy Award/Energy City municipalities in Switzerland as a practical, easy-to-use instrument with comprehensive evaluations. Adapting it to the Albanian context will allow municipalities to plan and budget for renovation and maintenance measures more effectively. In a second phase, other municipal sectors such as street lighting, wastewater, waste management, etc., will also become available. The Agency for Energy Efficiency, who hosted the meeting, will provide comprehensive support to municipalities in data input and analysis.
